The Modesto Zen Buddhist Recovery Group is a group that explores the ways in which Zen Buddhist practice supports and strengthens all kinds of 12-step work. We begin with a period of zazen meditation (and instruction for those new to practice), a presentation and discussion by a person in recovery and our sangha’s practice leaders; following discussion from those in attendance, we conclude with a period of zazen. We also hold retreats and other special events, and encourage participation in our larger sangha, Empty Nest Zendo. Our practice is to help members to ‘recover’ their ‘beginner’s mind,’ and live skillfully both on and off the cushion.

A donation is requested, but no one is turned away for lack of funds.
